How to bake a flat cake – so simple!! When making cakes do you get that annoying mountain rising in the middle?? I just hate that. I’ve finally figured out how to bake a flat cake and you won’t believe how simple it is. And no you won’t have to use a ton of icing just to level out your cake before decorating it. I always thought it was my oven or the type of pan I was using that made my cakes rise so high in the center like a mountain, but it’s not!
Okay, this is so incredibly simple! You’ll need just 2 items, safety pins and kitchen towels. Yep, that’s it! No need to buy cake strips, unless you really want too. If you would rather buy them you can fine a great set here, Wilton 2-Piece Bake Even Strip Set
First you will need to either cut your towels into strips or fold them over. Then get the strips wet with water and ring out the excess water. You’ll want to make sure they are plenty wet so they don’t dry out in the oven but not too wet that they are dripping everywhere!
Next, wrap the cake pans edge with the wet towels and secure in place with the safety pins.
That’s it! Bake the cake according the box directions and voila! A flat cake every time!
